Michael T. O’Connor, Ph.D. is the Program Director of Outreach and Professional Development at the Roche Center for Catholic Education of the Lynch School of Education & Human Development, Boston College. A former middle school English Language Arts (ELA) teacher, instructional coach, professional learning consultant, teacher educator, researcher, and policymaker across education settings, Dr. O’Connor received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in language, literacy, and culture from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. His previous education policy and teacher education roles include serving as the Coordinator of Educator Pipelines, Preparation, and Certification for the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and Director of the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) program, a secondary Master’s in Education preparation pathway at Providence College. He has served as an advisor and coach for educator professional learning networks, including the Northwest Rural Innovation and Student Engagement Network (NWRISE) and the Alaska Rural Innovation and Student Engagement Network (AKRISE). He is a Coyle Research Fellow with the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Literacy Education and pursues research interests in educator collaboration, professional learning and development, and writing and literacies. His published work includes Collaborative Professionalism: When Teaching Together Means Learning for All, co-authored with Dr. Andy Hargreaves (Corwin, 2018).
